Michael Cassidy

Dr. Michael Cassidy is the co-founder of Studio 4\2, where he does fine art photography and Barbara Seelye creates pottery.  His photography focuses on capturing the awe of being in nature. This is usually the raw beauty of the land but it can also be the delicate refractive colors of a hummingbird or the confident power of a lion.  He is particularly interested in the effect of changing light on clouds and of water moving past stationary objects.  He says: All of the images speak to me of the unimaginable beauty of this world and of our duty to attempt to protect it for future generations.

Selected solo exhibits:

All Things Bright and Beautiful was held in April 2004 at the Mesquite Arts Center.  This is an exhibit of photo-hymnody, a process of expressing a hymn through photographic images.

Quiet Time was displayed in February, 2005 at the Goodrich Gallery in Dallas, Texas.  Quiet Time is a collection of meditative photographs.  Several of the photos in Quiet Time mimic the Asian painting technique of depicting perspective through the use of three planes rather than the vanishing point perspective normally used in Western art.

Texture of Light was on exhibit at Imaginestation from October 17 to November 15, 2005.  This is a collection of images that examine unusual textures revealed by sunrise, sunset and the full moon.

New exhibits under development include Western Slope, a collection of images mostly from Southwestern Colorado, especially the Uncompahgre National Forest, White Rock Lake Park , a collection of images from the lake in the heart of Dallas and Water  a photographic exploration of the hydrologic cycle.
